Hours and epoc Pro

epoc transcribes with Soniox, through epoc's own service. There's no key to set up.

  • epoc starts with 3 free hours to try it. No account, no card.
  • epoc Pro adds 30 hours every month and the final transcript, which fills gaps and sorts out speakers.
  • Settings shows your hours, under Account.
  • If the hours run out while you record, epoc keeps recording the audio, so you can transcribe it later.

Recording

  • Tap Record. The first time, Android asks for the microphone.
  • Words appear as people talk, with each speaker kept apart.
  • Back takes you to your meetings and keeps recording. A bar at the top brings you back to it.
  • To stop, press and hold Hold to stop until it fills. A quick tap doesn't stop the recording, so a pocket or a stray finger can't end it.
  • After you stop, epoc asks what the meeting was. Pick a suggestion, type a title, or skip it.

Let people know before you record them.

Languages

  • By default epoc recognises the language on its own, even when people switch languages in one meeting.
  • If people usually speak the same few languages, pick them in Settings, under Languages. That makes the transcript more accurate. To go back to automatic, tap Detect automatically at the top of the list.

App language

epoc's own screens are in English, Hebrew or Russian. They follow the phone's language, and are in English when the phone uses another one.

On Android 13 and later you can give epoc a language of its own: touch and hold the epoc icon, tap App info, then Language, and choose one.

Speakers and the final transcript

  • With epoc Pro and Final transcript after recording on (Settings, under Transcription), epoc makes a second, more accurate transcript once you stop. Without it you keep the live transcript.
  • Tap a speaker's name in a meeting to rename them, for example "Speaker 2" to "Dana". You can rename speakers once the final transcript is ready, or once the audio is saved when there is no final transcript.
  • Making the final transcript again numbers the speakers afresh, so names you gave them are cleared. epoc asks before it does that.

Auto-save

Auto-save writes each finished meeting as a Markdown file to a folder you choose, so you can sync it to your computer with Drive or Syncthing.

  1. In Settings, open Auto-save folder and tap Choose folder.
  2. Android doesn't let apps write to the Download folder itself, so create a folder inside it, such as Download/epoc, and choose that.

If a save fails, Settings says so. Choose the folder again to fix it.

Moving to a new phone

  • Android's phone-to-phone transfer brings your meetings, their audio and your settings, on Android 12 and later. On Android 10 and 11 epoc's data isn't transferred.
  • Choose the auto-save folder again on the new phone.

Your agents

With Your agents, Claude, ChatGPT and other AI assistants can read the meetings you share and answer questions about them, even when your phone is off. They can only read.

  1. Open Settings, then Your agents, and tap Turn on. Sign in and write down your recovery key.
  2. In your assistant, add epoc's address as a connector. Settings shows the address under Your agents, with Copy.
  3. Sign in to epoc there and choose Allow. Then approve the request in epoc on your phone within 5 minutes.

To unlink an assistant, open Settings, then Your agents, and tap Unlink next to it.

Deleting your data and your account

Your meetings are kept on your phone. What epoc's service keeps, and for how long, is in the privacy policy: https://epoc.si/privacy

  • On your phone: delete a meeting in the app, or uninstall epoc to remove everything it keeps on the phone.
  • epoc's relay: its records aren't tied to a name or an email. An install's records are deleted once it has been unused for 24 months. To have an epoc Pro subscription's record deleted sooner, send its Google Play order number to hi@epoc.si.

If you turned on Your agents:

  1. To stop sharing one meeting, choose Don't share with agents on it. It's removed from the cloud.
  2. To delete everything synced and keep your account, open Settings, then Your agents, and tap Delete my synced data.
  3. To delete your account, open Settings, then Your agents, and tap Delete my account. Without the app, go to cloud.epoc.si/account/delete, sign in and confirm, or write to hi@epoc.si.

Deleting your account deletes your synced meetings, the links to your agents and phones, your recovery copy and your sign-in account, at epoc and at Clerk. The meetings on your phones stay.
